Opinion worth listening to

Everyone has the right to their opinion, but the mistake many make is thinking that everyone has to listen to them

Your outlook upon life, your estimate of yourself or your estimate of your value are largely coloured by your environment. Your whole career will be modified, shaped and moulded by your surroundings and by the character of the people with whom you come in contact every day. Some opinions are worth listening to, others not so much.

Everyone has the right to their opinion, but the mistake many make is thinking that everyone has to listen to them. Open your mind to constructive criticism. Ignore negative opinions, and know the difference between the two. When is someone’s opinion about you worth listening to?

People say a lot of things about you during the course of your life. How did you decide whether someone’s opinion of you is correct and you need to think about it? Never! Because…

• People who care about you don’t give you opinions; they give you actionable ideas.

• Ask yourself this, should I care about an opinion coming from someone who doesn’t care about me anyway? Don’t let your dreams be shattered, and thoughts washed out before they have been lived or implemented, just by thinking about other’s opinion.

So just decide who you would listen to and go ahead and do it. And if you are worried about negative opinions, remember if you are getting criticised it means you are doing something good. If you make the choice to create positive changes for yourself, that is all that matters. You don’t need anyone’s approval. You know what’s best for you, avoid seeking validation from people who aren’t going to give you that.
