Hi Mr Mayor, thanks for letting us have direct line to you wich is so different from every other mayor in most places in the country. I want to inquire if the muni is planning to revamp the very old sewage and electricity assets in Newcastle? They keep breaking down?

Yes we are. We have budgeted millions of rands to upgrade electricity and have spent in excess of R100 million on sewer upgrades. We will continue to do this, with this year adding in upgrades of water pipes…

Mr mayor i read with great interest in the paper about the medical university coming to nn and was very excited becos now children will not have to leave nn to study medicine. What is the plans now? Vusi Mahlabi

The provincial government is in the process of signing a memorandum of agreement with the university and we will be currently looking at their needs in terms of land.
