News that the axe has finally fallen at Endumeni Municipality is good news for the hard-pressed residents of this town who have been witness to the slow and painful demise of a once strong municipal system.
Resolutions taken since the ‘inquorated meeting of September 2013’ which saw an illegal Council meeting re-instate suspended municipal manager, TP Biyela, have finally been declared null and void.
Mr Biyela’s suspension will be confirmed at today’s Council meeting and Advocate Brijraj re-installed as Municipal Manager. He may want some kind of protection since his assault by municipal workers in front of the Kremlin on December 19.
Appointments made by the ‘illegal regime’ will have to re-looked at. Speculation is rife that tenders have been give to pals or in exchange of favours – either political or monetary. Whatever happens, it is hoped the promised clean out will finally put Endumeni on the straight and narrow.
