There was little rest for Treverton College’s 1st XI cricket team; after their victorious win of the 2014 Sunfoil Night League Champions, they departed for Johannesburg on an end of the season tour.
They played their first game, a 20-over game against Parktown Boys’ High School that afternoon. Treverton won the toss, and set Parktown a total of 151 runs for two wickets in our 20 overs. Andrew Tilbury ended on 49 not out off 31 balls, while Craig Warren anchored the innings, batting through for 48 off 52 balls.
After a rain shortened second innings, Parktown needed 113 off 15 overs, but only managed 103, leaving Treverton victorious by nine runs. Don Paterson took three wickets for 25 runs.
The team enjoyed time out, spending the Saturday morning at the Wanderers, and the evening at Ellis Park.
They then prepared for the toughest game of the season, a 50 over game against Parktown Boys. Treverton won the toss and amassed a brilliant 250 for eight in 50 overs, set up by huge 142 run partnership between Craig Warren (70 off 108) and Don Paterson (51 off 100). Treverton then bowled Parktown out for 228. Don Paterson took four for 27 in his ten overs, and Luke Richardson two for 45.
Treverton won by 22 runs.
The final game was a return match against De La Salle who while on tour, had played Treverton two weeks before in Mooi River. Bowling first, Treverton restricted DLS to 125 for eight wickets in 20 overs. An 80-run partnership between Tristan Pickering (40 off 27) and Craig Warren (40 off 38) set up the run chase, before Andrew Tilbury finished off proceedings in the 15th over. Treverton won by seven wickets.
The team was by accompanied cricket coach Mr Richard Lennox and his assistants Mr Larkin and Mr Mkhize.
