James Truter wins Estcourt Open

It was three days of great golfing

The club hosted the annual Pick n Pay Estcourt Open from November 25 to 27. The tournament began on Friday with the traditional four-ball alliance competition.

Winning on an alliance score of 86 points were David Diedrick, Christine Tratschler, Rodney Smith and Mike Hodgson.

On Saturday, the focus turned to the better-ball competition. The winners on 43 points were David Diedrick and George van Niekerk.

Attention then turned to the much-anticipated individual medal competition, which was played in perfect weather conditions on Sunday.
54 players competed in this event and played in either the A or B division.

After a gruelling 36 holes of golf, James Truter (playing off a +2 handicap) emerged as the 2022 Estcourt Open champion on a score of 145. In second, scoring 148, was Ross Mcbey. In third place, on 149, was Sash Rasen.

The B Division champion, on a score of 160, was local club golfer Denal Budhu (keeping the club flag flying high). In second, on a score of 161, was Lee Archary and in third was Y Chetty on a score of 162.

Denal was also the best nett winner on a nett score of 134, with Y Chetty in second on 138 and Sam Sewsunker in third on 144.

To Ian Marx and his dedicated team at Pick n Pay, thank you for hosting a very successful tournament. With the positive comments being passed around, we are sure to have a great 2023 Open as well. Overall, it was a great golfing weekend.
