Another victory for Estcourt’s racing duo

The wet weather made the route treacherous and challenging

The Parys 400, the seventh and final round of the South African Rally-Raid Championship, took place on November 11 and 12.

The event turned out to be yet another extremely challenging event, as torrential rain and a flooded route resulted in changes to the race that was the final title decider of the season. The event is the title decider for most of the championship classes in both the Production and Special Vehicle categories.

Local off-road racers Trace Price Moor and Shaun Braithwaite were back on the route, competing in the Special Vehicle category.
Moor and Braithwaite (BAT Venom) claimed victory in the Special Vehicle category.

In the Special Vehicle category on Saturday, Moor and Braithwaite added another overall and Class A victory to their wins the previous day.

It was another real challenge for the open-wheel vehicles in Class A, Class P and Class G in the treacherous conditions with these vehicles not having the luxury of a windscreen, wipers and windows.

“We only did 70km out of 400km on Friday, as race conditions were hectic and wet. We won overall in the Special category and won the A Class. On Saturday, it was the same story. The 100km race was cut short due to the wet conditions and the race couldn’t continue. We won the Special category and Class A again. This was the last race for 2022 and we would like to thank our families and supporters for all their support during the year,” said Braithwaite.
