Highlanders qualifies for cup final

Local teams will be in action at home this weekend against teams from Piet Retief.

Following a comprehensive victory against the Bears last Saturday, the Boschpick Newcastle Highlanders are one step closer to claiming the Junior Murray Cup.

The local side showed its claws with a 70-13 win at the Arbor Park Grounds. Head coach, Andre Swanepoel said it was clear from the first whistle that his side would dominate from start to finish.

Highlanders I and II will face Piet Retief in the regional final of the tournament this Saturday (August 13). The games kick off at 13:30 and 15:15 respectively at the Arbor Park Grounds.

The winners will compete in the Junior Murray Cup final in Margate on September 3.
