Newcastle hockey player makes SACD team

Blessing Khumalo is part of the team heading to the Inter-Provincial Tournament in Pretoria later this year.

Blessing Khumalo, who was selected for the South African Country Districts (SACD) hockey side, will be playing in the Inter-Provincial Tournament (IPT) in Pretoria later this year.

Blessing, along with Wendyl Frost, Struan Wade and Geybert Loots from the Newcastle Hockey Club men’s A side, were selected to join the Inland team (comprised of players from Newcastle, Ladysmith, Dundee and Vryheid). This team took part in the semi-finals in George in the Western Cape, after which Khumalo was selected for the SACD team.

According to Wade, Inland ended 11th overall, following a 1-0 loss in the final game.

Congratulations to all the players who were selected and to Khumalo for making the team.
