Racers up to speed at regionals

The first leg of the WOMZA Northern Regionals, hosted in Newcastle, has been hailed as a success.

The results are in from the first leg of the World of Motorsport ZA (WOMZA) Northern Regionals. All the action took place at the Newcastle Oval Track on Saturday.

The local circuit’s Zaakira Khan said 60 entrants raced in the various divisions. A formal prize-giving took place on Saturday evening, where the divisional top threes received their trophies.

The results have been announced as follows:

1660s: First place – Stephan van der Merwe

Quads: First place – Brenden James

Heavy metals: First place – Marcel Beeslaar

Hot rods: First place – Tim van der End

V8 flexis: First place – Albert van der Westhuizen

Stock rods: First place – Jan Delport

2-litre modifieds: First place – Farhaan Omar.
