A massive win saw Malawi FC jump to the top of the NSSL log.

‘Clash of the titans’ on soccer pitch –

Fernwood Sports Grounds was buzzing with action last Sunday (June 5), when Zim Stars Football Club (formerly SACC) took on Newcastle Legends in a Newcastle Social Soccer League (NSSL) clash. Zim Stars, which had not won a game until now, managed to beat Legends 2-0.

SBV FC took on Uloom United in a fiery battle. Both teams were aggressive in the approach to the game, but Uloom managed to take the lead midway through the first half thanks to Bilaal Daniels. However, SBV got the equaliser 10 minutes later.

The game continued into the second half as aggressively as the first. Both team’s goalkeepers were described as ‘brilliant’. The man of the match went to Jose McDonald of SBV, whose defensive experience helped the score remain 1-all.

In the ‘clash of the titans’, it was log leaders, Spartans FC versus second place Malawi FC. Spartans had a few chances in the opening few minutes but it was Malawi that ran out the winners by four goals to nil. This massive sees Malawi leapfrog Spartans to the top of the table.
