Club members are already revving up for the next big race, which is scheduled to take place on May 7.

At the Newcastle Oval Track race meeting on April 2, action took the driver’s seat. The monthly competition was open to all clubs and well-attended, with more than 30 entrants participating.

The overcast and somewhat gloomy weather earlier in the day did not deter motor enthusiasts from arriving in their numbers, to show support for their favourite drivers later that evening. Aside from the occasional light drizzle, the rain remained at bay for the duration of the races.

The club also wished a happy birthday to Fanie Mathysen (N48) who celebrated his big day on April 1, Wikie Bezuidenhout (N127) who celebrated his birthday on April 7, and club chairman, Shaukat Khan who turned 40 on April 8.

Club members are already revving up for the next big race, which is scheduled to take place on May 7.

The results for the race hosted on April 2 are as follows:
  • In the two-wheelers category, Paul Grobler took first place, while Johan Prinsloo came second and Hendrik Grobler came third.
  • In the stockrods category, Theoniel Bornman won first place, while Hendrik van der Merwe came second and Jan Delport came third.
  • In the 1660 category, Hendrik van der Merwe won first place, while Theoniel Bornman came second and Stephan van der Merwe came third.
  • In the 2-litre modified category, Eugene Reynecke won first place, while Roux-an Pieters came second and Johan Pieters came third.
  • In the hotrods category, Eugene Reynecke won first place, while Jaques van Niekerk came second and Hendrik van der Merwe came third.
  • In the heavy metals category, Henk van Rooyen won first place, while Marcel Beeslaar came second and Tiaan Buys came third.
