Are you geared up for community relay?

Organiser, Chris van der Linde said the event is envisioned as a fun relay lap event for mountain biking and trail running.

Newcastillians, are you geared up for a community relay event? The Liv2Ride Night Lap Race sets off tomorrow evening at Vulintaba Country Estate.

Organiser, Chris van der Linde said the event is envisioned as a fun relay lap event with two disciplines: mountain biking and trail running. The event also caters for individual entrants and children.

Corporate teams can also enter – a percentage of a corporate team’s entry fee will go towards a charity of their choice.

The mountain biking category has three events. The Corporate Lap Race – the team completing the most laps in 3 hours is the winner. The 5km Fun Lap Race – the team with the most laps completed in 1,5 hours is the winner. The Fun/Junior Lap Race – a one-hour ride on a non-technical circuit.

The trail running category has two events. The Corporate Lap Race – the team which completes the most laps in 3 hours wins. The Fun Lap Race – a 1,5 hour event on a shorter route.

Entry into any of the staged events also includes a meal for each team participant.

Van der Linde said the races will all begin in the evening but will continue into the night. It is recommended entrants bring a head-lamp or another illumination device or torch.

There will also be market stalls and a ‘hang-out’ area envisioned as a street festival.
