The Dundee Bowling Clubs Men’s and Ladies’ Nominated Club Pairs competition was played this past weekend, with a total of eight men’s teams and 5 ladies’ teams entering.
The men were divided into two sections of four, while the ladies played a round robin format. At the end of the day’s play on the Saturday in the men’s section, it was Ian and Jacques who found themselves in the final, with Dougie and Dirk as their opposition.
The final was played on the Sunday in very humid conditions. At the end of the 15 ends, it was Ian and Jacques who raised the trophy, beating Dougie and Dirk 21-10. In the ladies’ section, it was Rita and Taryn who managed to pull it through to win the title, ending up on six points +37, with Hannelie and Essie the runners-up on six points +29.
A special trophy was also handed to Barbara and Yvonne for the best team spirit, not winning a single game but enjoying every moment nonetheless.
