Ladysmith KZN: Sportsman decides to step down after 4 decades as a leader

Mr Andries van Eck has been at the helm of the sport for 40 years at the Ladysmith Badminton Club

If you have played badminton in Ladysmith or anywhere in the province, the name Andries van Eck surely will have come up in a conversation and you would have played alongside him.

Mr van Eck has been at the helm of badminton for 40 years at the Ladysmith Badminton Club and has helped the game grow from strength to strength to what it is today in Ladysmith.

During his years at the club, they have won numerous trophies and he has been an active player on the court all those years. Now he has decided to step down and let someone else take over the reins.

Mr van Eck recently received a farewell gift from Mathilda Chetty on behalf of the Ladysmith Badminton Club for the valuable years he has given to the club.
