NEWCASTLE ADVERTISER: Swimming coach’s advice for training outside the pool

Grace Filipe believes strongly in the importance of core strength in a successful swimmer.

In the Newcastle Advertiser recently, we chatted to local swimming clubs about new regulations for the sport and how they are dealing with swimming amid Covid-19 and the national lockdown.

Leader and coach at Aqua Adrenaline in Newcastle, Grace Filipe has also provided training tips for swimmers, when they can’t be in the pool. Here are her suggested exercise techniques:

She aims to include daily land training in her team’s regimens and believes core strength is integral to being a successful swimmer.

“We do lots of running – I am a firm believe in core workouts and the squad runs two times a week.”
