Athletes speed up as lockdown slowly relaxes

Athletes could enter and compete in 2km, 5km and 10km races

Athletes are slowly getting back into their stride, so to speak.
Vryheid Athletic Club held a Virtual Youth Race on Sunday, which was organised by the Comrades Association. The aim of the event was to spread awareness about gender-based violence and children abuse. Athletes could enter and compete in 2km, 5km and 10km races. The following athletes competed in the event: 5km: Nana Mfaba – 00:35;
Mariaan le Roux – 59:20 (walking); Smuts van der Nest – 59:20 (walking). 10km:
Melissa Scheepers – 49:38; Cathy de Beer – 01:08; Lorraine van der Nest – 01:13:05; Annatjie van der Merwe – 01:08:37; Barbara Dicks – 00:58:02; Sakkie Spannenberg – 00:58:02; Johann Coetzee – 01:03:00; Kurt Spannenberg – 01:05:00.
