Fans celebrate Liverpool’s return to the top

Fans can rejoice as one in the knowledge that the team are back at the top where they belong

After a 30-year wait, Liverpool fans around the world (including Dundee) can finally rejoice! This is because The Reds are the Premier League champions for the 2019/2020 season.

Liverpool wrapped up the league with seven games to go, setting a new record in the process. The Reds dominated the league and were 25 points ahead of defending champions Manchester City before the Covid-19 pandemic brought the sporting world to a halt.

Once it resumed though, it didn’t take the league leaders long to wrap up the league. The reigning European and World Champions will lift the league title on Wednesday, July 22, after their final home game of the season against Chelsea.

Local Liverpool fans have been ecstatic since the team tied up the league and have been celebrating every chance they get – celebrations that have been a long time coming, after years of ridicule at the hands of rival fans.

As the team’s motto says, You’ll Never Walk Alone, and despite lockdown regulations, fans can rejoice as one in the knowledge that the team are back at the top where they belong.
