Ladysmith athlete places second in Rio De Janeiro Marathon

Siphamandla believes he is well on his way to achieving his dreams

Siphamandla Duma from Ezakheni recently came second in the 26th Virtual Rio De Janeiro Marathon.

This marathon was held on June 14, with athletes from all over the world taking part. In an amazing performance, Siphamandla beat out all the opposition except one to take the runner-up position. The only athlete to finish ahead of him was race winner Ronny Mawelela from Swaziland.

Siphamandla has truly made his hometown proud with this superb display of road running, competing against the cream of the crop from overseas.

“I know I have left my mark as an athlete and I am very proud of myself after this great achievement, ” said a beaming Siphamandla.

He has also taken part in the Soweto Marathon, Cape Town Marathon and Loskop Marathon. Looking back, he says  he is well on his way to achieving his dreams.

Siphamandla is the founder of the Ezakheni 150 Athletes, which has produced some great athletes. He is definitely one of them.
