There’s more to Trisha than meets the eye

Trisha has also taken up other martial art forms including Judo, Brazilian jujitsu and Tang Soo Do

When one thinks of Trisha Rajkumar, one immediately thinks of her pageant days with Miss SA India or her charity work with the SPCA and various other initiatives.

But there is more to Trisha than meets the eye. The local lass is more than a pretty face with a big heart, she’s also a black belt karateka.

Trisha was recently crowned the Senior Elite Women’s Open Kumite (Contact Karate) Champion at the NKZN JKA Provincial Championships. It’s just one of the numerous achievements she’s racked up over the years.

Trisha Rajkumar has racked up numerous medals and titles over the years.

As fan of the anime, Dragon Ball Z, Trisha always wanted to emulate the lead character, Goku. It’s through the show that she then fell in love with martial arts and at the age of nine, joined a JKA Shotokan dojo.

It was tough going at first but Trisha persevered on and is now a Shodan (1st degree black belt) and can’t imagine her life without karate. But it isn’t only karate that she’s competed in.
