Anglers pull all-nighter at Endumeni AC outing

Fishing was slow during the afternoon session, with anglers taking a break with a social braai that evening.

The Endumeni Angling Club, under the mother body of the Natal Fresh Water Angling Association (NFWAA), held its annual overnight club outing at Chelmsford Dam Zones D and E recently.

A total of 30 anglers from the club attended the event, which commenced last Saturday at 12pm and ended the next morning.

Fishing was slow during the afternoon session, with anglers taking a break with a social braai that evening. During this time, no anglers were allowed to fish, instead enjoying the meal and socialised while pondering the season’s achievements. As some anglers returned to their spots, they were excited as fish began biting while others were still eating.

At the end of the successful outing, anglers recorded 117 points in total, with the biggest barbel of 8,9 kilograms caught by Pravesh Gopie and junior angler, Muhammed Ebrahim bagging the heaviest carp (4,04kg).

The top three anglers were Muhammed on 33 points, Shabeer Pullen on 28 points and Amith Pullen on 18 points. With one league to go for the NFWAA, angling clubs are determined to secure second place, with defending champion, Itec Freespool having already secured the title.

President of Endumeni AC, Shabir Ismail thanked all anglers for their support during the season.
