Sentraal steams past opponents on the rugby field

Sentraal proved to be too good for Vryheid in a recent rugby clash.

Sentraal showed how it could steamroll its opponents, during a friendly clash with Vryheid recently.

The two teams did battle at the Dundee High School grounds, following the cancellation of the Shosholoza Cup tournament due to teams pulling out at the last minute.

Sentraal got off to a speedy start and dominated the game. Despite Vryheid’s sporadic attacks, Sentraal held firm at the back and soon reversed the pressure.

At half-time, the local side led 15-0 thanks to beautifully worked tries scored by Xander Kriel. At the start of the second half, Sentraal picked up where it left off in the first half and immediately put Vryheid under pressure. That led to another try for Xander, who was in fine form.

Moving to cruise control, Sentraal took its foot off the pedal towards the latter stages of the game.

Constant pressure from the visitors meant Sentraal was playing the game in its own half for large parts of the second half, but it remained resilient in defence. Vryheid was able to score two tries, but never really looked like winning however.

The game finished 22-10 in favour of the host.
