Rugby sides to battle for Shosholoza Cup honours

Competing teams include Volksrust, Newcastle, Ladysmith, Pongola, Dannhauser and Vryheid.

Dundee-based Sentraal Rugby Club competes in the Northern KwaZulu-Natal First Division and First Division Reserve leagues.

The club prides itself on being fully representative of all ethnic groups in the area and tries its best to remain inclusive and ensure the entire Endumeni district is proud of its efforts.

Sentraal Rugby Club will hosting its annual Shosholoza Cup tournament in Dundee on Saturday (March 7) from around 8.30am to 5.30pm, and residents are invited to show their support.

Teams from Piet Retief, Volksrust, Winterton, Harrismith, Newcastle, Ladysmith, Pongola, Dannhauser and Vryheid will join host club, Sentraal, at Dundee High School fields for a day of great club rugby. Piet Retief downed Drakensberg 12-7 last year to take home the impressive looking trophy.

Sentraal will also play host to the sub union side – the Northern KwaZulu-Natal team – which will play against a sub union from the Durban area. This game will kick off at 3pm, after which the semi-finals and finals of the Shosholoza Cup take place.
