Young golfer wins his first monthly mug

Jacques Bezuidenhout wins Saturday’s Mortimer Monthly Mug

Submitted by the Estcourt Golf Club

Our greenkeeper was quite happy to see that the monthly mug, which was won by Jacques Bezuidenhout, produced a score that suited the course.

Jacques’ nett score of 71 proved that his handicap is correct, and no fancy scores were posted. He also won the Stableford on 37 points.

Second on nett 71, on a count-out, was Bunn Hamman, also known as Mr OB. He bounced out of play twice and still managed to come second.

Third on nett 73 was Kamy Baboolal with 35 Stableford points.

A big thank you must go to Mortimer Motors for sponsoring the mug and to Ian Marx of Pick ‘n Pay for sponsoring the meat prizes for the Stableford competition.

Closest to the pin on the Gerry Motors number 2 was Bruce Marx, while Wilson Sibiya won the jackpot on nine points, and closest to the pin on number 12 was Johannes Mchunu.

The Wagenaar Grand Prix yielded another world record, with Deejay Ramdhav running away with 101 points.
Deejay has scored points at every monthly mug during the year.

A distant second was Gordon Smith on 45 points, followed by Rajen Goodoon (also on 45 points). Thank you to Paul Wagenaar of UBM (Ultra Badge) for sponsoring the grand prix.

Spare a thought for George van Niekerk who got off to a flying start, but no one told him that fish do not feed on golf balls and he promptly put two golf balls in the water in front of him. His comment was “fish must also eat”.
On Friday, the Pick ‘n Pay sponsored nine-hole competition was won by Bunn Hamman on 22 points.

This Wednesday, Rite Watch will be sponsoring and it will also be the Wednesday Christmas Cheer. Players are requested to bring a wrapped prize of between R80 and R100, where everyone will receive a prize. On Saturday, the Christmas Cheer will also be played in a better-ball format (every player must also bring a wrapped prize of R80 to R100).
