Neelan Iyavoo and Suvedh Ramprith will be accompanying the KwaZulu-Natal junior cricket teams.  Mr Iyavoo, who is an educator at Estcourt High School, has been appointed manager of the KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union Inland under 19 boys’ cricket team and this will be his third year as a manager of the team, which consists of two coaches and 13 players.

As an avid cricket player and being involved in the game for the past 34 years, Mr Iyavoo has been instrumental in coaching players from mini-cricket level, as well as the Estcourt Town Team.

He has also previously managed and coached the under 15 provincial team, convened the under 15 selections and is presently an under 19 selector. He is a Cricket South Africa accredited level 2 coach and level 1 umpire.

“The Khaya Majola Under 19 National Week is being hosted by Inland and will take place from December 16 to 20 in and around the Midlands area,” explained Mr Iyavoo.

For 23-year-old Suvedh Ramrpith, who is the manager of the under 13 boys’ cricket team, this will be a new experience for him. Mr Ramprith will be travelling to Pretoria with his team for matches from December 6 to 12.

Thus far, he has completed his coaching level 1 and is busy with level 2. He sees the national cricket week as a stepping stone in his dream of becoming a full-time coach.

“I am really looking forward to this experience because, growing up, I wanted to be part of the team and didn’t get an opportunity, but now I get to be on the other side,” he said.

He adds that his team’s bowling attack is quite strong and they are hoping to clinch the top log positions. The under 13 team will be playing at the Irene Oval and Moot Cricket Club in Pretoria.

“We have a strong team and there is good chemistry between the players, coaches and management,” he added.

Congratulations to Messrs Iyavoo and Ramprith on this achievement.
