Runners line up for the Save Orion race

Estcourt runners joined thousands of others for this popular race in Pietermaritzburg

The Save Orion Race was run in cool weather in Pietermaritzburg on Sunday (November 10).

This popular road race attracts thousands of entrants from around the country.

Vruh Nyawo, Xolly Radebe, Dr Nosipho Manyoni, Thulle Daki, Londy Mazibuko and Samke Biyela, who completed the 10km.

Estcourt runners were also at the start and thoroughly enjoyed the race.

Forderville Athletic Club’s results are as follows:
Half-marathon:
Nishal Mahadow – 2:10.
Amri Sewnun – 2:17.
Sharmila Rajcoomar – 2:31.
Tina Sewgoolam – 2:36.
Keerath Ramsahaye – 2:41.
10km run:
Anitha Jai Jai – 1:23.
Nisha Sewnun – 1:31.

Fantastic performances indeed! There were over 4000 runners on race day, who started at Save Hyper in Victoria Street and ran a double lap for the half-marathon (21.1km).
