Despite a reduced field, which has become the trend throughout the country, the 73rd annual Friedman Tournament hosted by Dundee Bowling Club was a resounding success, and enjoyed by one and all.
One game was played on Saturday morning, with players then given the opportunity to watch the final of the Rugby World Cup before returning to the greens to play another two games.
A further two games were played on Sunday to determine the winners of the tournament.
The Friedman Cup (for teams of men only) was won by Phillip Scheepers, Miskiet Ferreira, Dion Leaity and Chalk Kelleway (their sixth victory!), with the runners-up being Theuns Fraser, John and Trevor Douthwaite and Pierre Swart.

Runners-up were Samantha and Stephen Shaw, Fran Baleri and Des Johnston, with third place going to Newcastle’s Alice Howe, Dorothy Crosbie, Sue Hutchinson and Vicky van der Merwe.
The Newcastle Bowling Club Drawn Pairs competition starts this weekend, with entries closing on Friday evening.
