Zululand snatches victory from Ladysmith in limited over clash

For Zululand, Devin Aspden did the most damage to the NDCU batting line up, taking three wickets in his three overs for only ten runs.

On Sunday, the pitch at Cecil Emmett Park came alive with cricket action as the Northern District Cricket Union (NDCU) side from Ladysmith faced the Zululand Promotion League (ZPL) team in a limited overs match.
The Zululand side won the toss and sent NDCU in to bat first.
Protus Zakwe, David Bailey and Frans Earle were the only batsmen to reach double figures for the visitors from Ladysmith, with 10, 31 and 20 runs respectively.
With 22 extras conceded by the Zululand bowling attack in the NDCU innings, they were all out for a total of 119 runs.

For Zululand, Devin Aspden did the most damage to the NDCU batting line up, taking three wickets in his three overs for only ten runs.
Shane Pennington bowled five overs, taking two wickets for 14 runs and single wickets were taken by Tiaan Erasmus, John Bevan, Bruce Tembo, Clifford Dougherty and Jaques Sander.
Equally effective with bat in hand as he proved to be at bowling, Devin Aspden top scored for Zululand with 31 runs, not out. Shane Pennington was bowled out by Faraaz Khan, but not before scoring 21 runs off 30 deliveries. Tertius Gubbels and Clifford Dougherty were the only other two ZPL batsmen to reach double figures with 17 and 12 runs respectively.
Ladysmith conceded 19 extras to the Zululand side, who won comfortably with 120 for six in just 27.1 overs.
Faraaz Khan took three wickets for Ladysmith in his eight over spell for 35 runs, while Thami Mcineko took two wickets for 25 runs in seven overs. Azeem Shezad took one wicket for 23 in five overs.
Zululand Promotion League won the match by four wickets.
