Golfers brave the heat and take on the course

Equipped with sun hats, sun-screen lotion and plenty of water, the golfers made their way onto the fairways and braved the sweltering heat.

With the mercury soaring to 38 degrees, golfers were seen teeing off as early as 7am on Saturday at the Newcastle Golf Club.

The heatwave did not stop them from engaging in a Club Sponsored Competition however, as they got in the swings of the day.

Equipped with sun hats, sun-screen lotion and plenty of water, the golfers made their way onto the fairways and braved the sweltering heat.

Their reward? A few cold ones enjoyed at the clubhouse after a long day out on the course.

The results for the day were as follows:

1. Coert Grobler (39 points)
2. Ebert Koorts (38 points)
3. Johan Delport (37 points)
4. Tinkie van der Heever (34 points)
5. Ronél Delport (31 points).
