These karateka get registered at the Japan headquarters, and will be recognised anywhere in the world.

Some of the senior Newcastle JKA karateka trained with top JKA karate instructors on the weekend.

According to Sensei Johan Swart of NKZN JKA, a highlight of the session was the fact that some of the local JKA karateka passed their 1st and 2nd Dan gradings.

“Nazir Manjoo, Gohan Geringer, Marko Swart, Jancke Vermaak, Nayla Kajee and Tasme Ramsamooj all passed to 1st Dan (Shodan). Charles Kemp, Cassidy Steenkamp and Anthony van der Watt all passed to 2nd Dan (Nidan),” confirmed Sensei Swart.

Nazir Manjoo, Gohan Geringer, Marko Swart, Jancke Vermaak, Nayla Kajee and Tasme Ramsamooj all passed as 1st Dan (Shodan).

“What makes these qualifications even more special is the fact that this is an international qualification. These karateka get registered at the Japan headquarters, and will be recognised anywhere in the world as first or second degree black belts.”

Well done to these karateka on their wonderful achievements! For more information on JKA karate, contact Johan Swart on 083 658 7157.
