Mugs and chickens star for golfers

The course is still in fairly good condition and more players should take advantage.

The Dundee Golf Club would like to thank the organisers from NG Kerk Suid for hosting its annual sponsored competition at the Dundee Country Club. The format will be Four Ball Better Ball Scramble Drive.

Golfers can enter with a partner if possible and are urged to enter early to stand a chance of winning prizes. Entry fees are R180 per player, which includes a braai afterwards.

Dave’s Competition:  On Wednesday, there will be the regular 11-hole IPS format Dave’s Competition.

Chicken Run:  The club will host the Chicken Run on Friday, in the form of an IPS over 10 holes.

Dave’s Competition results (October 9): The competition played last Wednesday over 11 holes, in the form of an IPS. The winners were as follows: first – Debbie Catlett on 20 points, counted out from second-placed new member, Ben Jacobs. Third – Lorein de Wit on 19 points.

“Please remember there is a new handicap system in place over nine holes. Don’t worry, you’ll get over it.”

Monthly Mug Individual Medal: The club thanks all those who played in the Monthly Mug on Saturday, in the form of an Individual Medal competition. The course is still in fairly good condition and more players should take advantage.

Mug winners were as follows: Most Improved Lady Golfer (B Division) – Naomi van Huyssteen on 69 nett. Ladies C Division – Thea Kruger on 79 nett. Men’s Division – Gene Robson on 68 nett. B Division – Mandla Mthethwa on 65 nett. The best gross score was made by Jo Khumalo on 72 gross points. Two clubs were carded by W Odendaal, Gene Robson and C Mkhwanazi on Hole 4, and by Jo Khumalo on Hole 12. Prize winners were: M Mthethwa (65 nett), W Odendaal (67 nett) and CJ Carelse Snr (68 nett).
