Lionel and Carel claim SPCA Golf Day honours

SPCA Sponsored Day: The club would like to thank the Dundee and District SPCA for hosting its annual charity golf day at the Dundee Country Club. Thanks also to its sponsors and all the players who took part. A good field took to the course on the day and the winners were as follows:

First – Lionel Shawe and Carel Vermeulen on a good 50 points, second – Welcome Mhlungu and Brian Khanyile on 47 points, third – Kevin Donaldson and Louis Albertse on 47 points counted out, fourth – Mandla Mthethwa and Clement Chawanda on 46 points.

Novelty prizes were awarded as follows: Nearest to the pin: Hole 4 – Welcome Mhlungu, Hole 8 – Brian Khanyile, Hole 12 – Coenie Munro, Hole 6 – Billy Francis. Hole 18 closed for two – Jo Khumalo. Longest drive on Hole 17 – Willem Wentzel
Heinrich Meyer had a two club carded on Hole 11 (par four).

The club would like to thank all those who supported the SPCA raffle and auction.

Dave’s Competition: The competition was played last Wednesday in the form of an IPS over 11 holes. Winners were as follows: first – Shakeel Kalideen on 23 points, second – Dave Donaldson on 21 points, third – Dan Scholtz on 20 points.

Chicken Run: The Chicken Run took place last Friday over nine holes, in the form of an IPS, and was played using the new handicap system. The winner was Dave Donaldson on 17 points and in second was Dan Scholtz on 16 points.

Upcoming competitions:
October 9 – Dave’s Competition, over 11 holes in the form of an IPS.
October 11 – Chicken Run in the form of an IPS.
October 12 – Monthly Mug (to be played in the form of Individual Medal – the club hopes for a good field).

The club would like to wish Dave Donaldson a speedy recovery. A silver and black cufflink was found near the clubhouse on Saturday.
