Steady golfer Gordon Smith wins on a nett 68

Submitted by Estcourt Golf Club

Gordon Smith, most probably the steadiest player in monthly mug competitions, won the Mortimer Motors monthly mug on Saturday on a nett 68; that after carding an eight on a par five.

Second on nett 69 was Nkosinathi Khuzwayo and third went to Johannes Mchunu on nett 70.

The Stableford points were won in the same order. The jackpot was shared by Deejay, Paul and Rajen on nine points. Closest to the pin on number three and seven was Gordon Smith for a whopping R165 payout.

And with a mighty strike to the golf ball, Elias Mageza tees off.

The Durban July winners were Darren Wortmann (R400), Delray Wagenaar (R300) and Richard Drewett (R200). This Saturday will be a fund-raising event, with the proceeds going to Ithembalethu Outreach Project, organised by Vino Haribhai and George van Niekerk. It will be a four-ball alliance scramble drive, with two scores to count.

The match play games must be played by the due date or players will face disqualification.
