Dundee Angling Club hosts Winter Games

Despite the conditions on the morning during the Winter Games, anglers had a whale of a time.

The Winter Games contest was fished at the Zones, Chelmsford Dam on Saturday. Fishing was difficult and slow but despite this, an enjoyable day was had by all in cold, slightly windy conditions.

Results were: 1st – Kingfishers Giants (170 points); 2nd – Kingfishers Malacite (145 points); 3rd – Dagbreek (145 points); 4th – Vryheid Angling Club (107 points); 5th – Dundee Sharks (106 points); 6th – Iscor (98 points); 7th – Dundee Dolphins (93 points); 8th – Newcastle Arende (65 points); 9th – Newcastle Club (60 points); 10th – Pietermaritzburg (49 points); 11th – SAP Vryheid (45 points).

The June Club Competition was fished on June 2 at D and E Zones. Results were: 1st – Willie Viljoen – 5 fish and 109.02 points. 2nd – Hannes Kleinhans – 6 fish and 85.86 points; 3rd – Andre Theron – 6 fish and 84.9 points;
juniors – Teagan Pillay – 1 fish and 36.76 points.

Willie also won the pooled prize with the heaviest bag of fish, weighing in at 5,9 kg. Well done to all the anglers, who braved the cold morning that started at below freezing point Celsius.
