Finding the ace at the Cochran Doubles Championship

The tournament took place at St Dominics Newcastle, and was tied into the school calendar due to many entrants being school learners.

The Cochran Doubles Championship took place recently.

Sponsored by Moteko, this tennis tournament was envisioned as an opportunity for young tennis players to apply the knowledge they received from coaching.

Organisers also believe the competition environment fostered a winning attitude.

“The Championship is a green dot competition, played with a regulation ball by children of intermediate level. Members of the Pavilion Tennis Club were also eligible to compete,” said Johny Msimanga, who is a coach, competition organiser and tennis veteran.

The tournament took place at St Dominics Newcastle, and was tied into the school calendar due to many entrants being school learners.

According to Msimanga, winners of the Doubles Championship were Rina Chisholm, Damian Rickets, Noli Tapawan and Christiaan Brink.
