Wrestler to don his Protea colours

With many years of competition under his belt, Eric gained exposure and experience on the wrestling mat and believes this has led him to continued success in the sport.

Eric de Wet will soon become a Protea wrestler.

On February 9 during the 2019 Wrestling Trials in Secunda, Eric was ranked number one in his weight division, for wrestlers weighing less than 63 kilograms, and was selected for the National Junior Greco-Roman Squad. He is due to receive his national colours in a few weeks time.

Representatives of the Cougars Wrestling Club, of which Eric is a member, said only the wrestler who was placed first in the 2019 Trials qualified for the Africa Continental Championships, in Tunisia in March.

“He is one of our most experience members and started wrestling at the age of eight,” they said.

With many years of competition under his belt, Eric gained exposure and experience on the wrestling mat and believes this has led him to continued success in the sport.

“We as the Cougars Wrestling Club wish him everything of the best.”

Congratulations and Godspeed, Eric!
