Those intrepid Biggarsberg Athletics Club runners have been up and about again in their running shoes – from Volksrust to Benoni.
A large group of BBAC athletes took part in the Volksrust Race on Saturday, January 26, which was run in perfect weather.
Some of the results achieved include:
10km: Karin Schwartz 1:38:38, Rina Burrows 1:50:34 (2nd in Great Grand Master Age Category), Dudu Mchunu 1:55:16.
21km: Spa Moloi 2:00:02, Ashleigh Hilliar 2:02:06 (3rd Lady and second in Sub Veteran Age Category), Bongani Myeni 2:02:09, Fani Mthembu 2:07:08, Patrick Mawila 2:23:56, Phume Mchunu 2:45:24, Lewies Boshoff 3:08:39, Ken Vorster 3:09:11 (1st in Great Grand Master Age Category), Dawn Penney 3:16:52, Jeanette Boshoff 3:22:15 (2nd in Grand Master Age Category), Debbie Eloff 3:30:09, Monique van der Walt 3:30:10.
32km: Sabatha Ndlovu 2:23:30 (7th Male), Petros Mavuso 2:36:34 (2nd in Master Age Category), Lidia de Waal 4:03:21.
42km: Bongani Sabela 3:02:44 (5th Male home), Joel Khumalo 3:15:50 (8th Male and 2nd in Veteran Age Category), Philimon Zondi 3:28:51 (1st in Grand Master Age Category), Kethokuhle Mchunu 3:32:02, Shane Hilliar 3:42:33, Zwelihle Duma 4:13:56, Neville Griffiths 5:00:36.
There was also a few brave BBAC runners who made their way to Benoni to compete in the Johnson Crane Race on January 27.
Times clocked in included: Zweli Masimang 4:14:03, Thobeka Mbatha 4:35:30, Siya Ngobese 4:54:18 and Sam Ngobese 4:54:24.
“Biggarsberg AC was out in numbers last weekend! I am super proud of each and every member that went out there to represent our club,” said Lani van der Mescht of BBAC.
