Saturday morning sprint for the family

The pounding of rubber on tar was the order of the day as the participants raced to the finish point

Bright and early on Saturday morning, about 60 runners made their way to Mabaso’s Farm to be part of the first Family Fun Run/Walk.

In good spirits and with pleasant weather conditions, the runners completed the registration from 6.30am and set off for the open road at about 7.30am.

The 6km route took the runners and walkers along Ntabamhlophe Road into Hellet Road, through Lorne Street and then to Lambert Park.

The pounding of rubber on tar was the order of the day as the participants raced to the finish point.

Adult male category winner Lulungelo Khumalo.

Winning the adult male category was Lulungelo Khumalo and in the woman’s category it was Nontobeko Mlambo. In the children’s male category Simphiwe Mdakane was first and Nokukhanya Mswane won the children’s female category.

At Lambert Park, runners and their families could enjoy the tranquil atmosphere with music, a jumping castle, aerobics or 100 meter races. The event was hosted by Sgaah Productions, who say that despite a few hiccups, the family day was enjoyed by all who participated and attended.
