Ladysmith’s star polocrosse player, Graham MacLarty, makes us proud

Graham has participated in 2 World Cups over the years

24-year-old Graham MacLarty has certainly made Ladysmith proud with his outstanding achievements in polocrosse.

Graham has a 10-handicap and plays for the Nyati Polocrosse Club here in Ladysmith.

He was the youngest player, at 14 years old, to be selected to play for the South African men’s team in 2009. These days, he is one of the country’s top players.

From June 22 to 24, he took part in the prestigious Land Rover Durban High Goal Polocrosse Tournament, which was held at the Durban Shongweni Club.

Graham has also participated in two World Cups over the years and did very well.

At the Durban tournament, hundreds of spectators were treated to fast-paced polocrosse from the country’s and some of the world’s highest ranked players, most of whom will be playing in the upcoming 2019 World Cup. The Land Rover Durban High Goal featured eight teams and was the perfect platform to compete against each other at the highest level ahead of next year’s World Cup in Australia.

Over the three-day tournament, there were 56 players and about 100 horses that put on a spectacular performance.

Well done, Graham! Everything of the best in the upcoming World Cup!
