Mixed results for Dundee league golfers

The surprise result of the day was the 8/4 defeat of the A1 team against their A2 club companions.

This past Sunday saw Dundee Country Club host the first round matches for the 2018 N.KZN Men’s Golf league fixtures with over 70 players in three divisions competing on the day.
Dundee C.C. have the strongest representation out of all the N. KZN clubs for the 2018 season, with two teams entered in both the A and B division, as well as a Frog team.
The surprise result of the day was the 8/4 defeat of the A1 team against their A2 club companions.
The B1 team got their league campaign off to a good start by beating Ladysmith 8/4 while the B2 team were held to a 6-6 draw against their local rivals Glencoe.
The Frog team fought back strongly from what looked like a possible defeat to draw their game against Glencoe.
Saturday’s 4 BBBS Club competition saw a mediocre field of 24 golfers taking part with Gene Robson and his partner, Churchill Maphanga, taking the honours with 45 points.
J Zulu and W Langa won the count out on 44 points to finish runners-up.
There were five 2 Clubs recorded on the day with Lorien De Wit achieving two, one on the 4th hole and the other on the 12th hole.
G Robson made his 2 Club on the 4th hole, with K Roets on the 12th and J Zulu on the 16th being the other players to record a 2 Club.
This weekend’s fixtures:
Friday 23: 10 Hole Meat Competition and Saturday 24: the Club competition will be a Better Ball Bonus Bogey.
Notice to all full golf members of Dundee C.C. that you are requested to attend a Special General Meeting on Monday, March 5, at 6pm to discuss the way forward with regards to the golf section.
