A brand new chapter for Vryheid Rugby Club

"A young committee has been elected for 2018," states Chairman, Mornè Ellis. "There are many challenges ahead of us but, with the assistance and support of many, we trust that we will continue to fly the flag of Vryheid and Vryheid Rugby Club high."

THE 2018 rugby season begins in January and Vryheid Rugby Club will be entering the season with a new committee at the helm.

Andrè Ellis takes over as Head Coach for the first team from former Head Coach, Rich Verster, who stepped down at the end of last season with the aim of opening up the position to younger blood with the same passion for the sport that he has coached with in the past.

Ellis is no stranger to the rugby field and has been with Vryheid Rugby Club for a number of years, as well as coaching school level rugby in more recent times.

Jono Beghin will remain as Second Team Coach, a position he has retained comfortably through the 2017 season.

Brien Ellis assumes the position of President of Vryheid Rugby Club, with Hannes Viljoen stepping in as Vice President and Mornè Ellis maintaining his position as Chairman. Jaco Davel and Stephen Pennels were elected as Club Captain and Treasurer respectively.

Magriet Ellis will step in as Secretary for Vryheid Rugby Club and Anton van der Walt, as an additional member, will handle Public Relations. Other additional members are Matthew Stride and David Sandalls.

The new committee also wishes to extend their gratitude to the following people who have made themselves available to assist with fundraising and events: Charles and Jeanine Aspden, Devin Aspden, Inge Davel, Zelmari Jacobs, Karina de Necker, Charlene Taylor, and Carien Viljoen.
