Newcastle visitors boost Dundee golf

The men’s longest drive on the 10th hole went to M Sithole while Debbie Catlett won the ladies longest drive on the 9th hole.

It was really great to see, for the second weekend in a row, more than 70 golfers taking part in our Saturday golf competition at Dundee Country Club as players came out in support of the Glencoe Primary School fund raising golf day. Besides our regular local golfers, both the club and the school were fortunate to have an additional 32 players from a social golf group from Newcastle taking part in the competition.
Walking away with the first prize in the 4 BBBS format after scoring an excellent 50 points was the local pairing of Clement Chawanda and Melusi Sithole. Second place went to W Clayton and H Upton on 48 points, with the pairing of M Bradbury and B Francis winning the count out on 47 points to finish third.
The novelty prizes for nearest the pin on the short holes went to: R Streak on the 4th, J Schreuder on the 8th, Y Govender at the 12th and J Zulu on the 16th hole. The men’s longest drive on the 10th hole went to M Sithole while Debbie Catlett won the ladies longest drive on the 9th hole.
This coming Saturday, September 16, the club will be hosting the Dundee Pre-Primary School fund raising golf day, a 4 BBBS with a scramble drive format. Players are requested to contact The Pro Shop on 034 218 1000 to make their bookings.
