Lindani inspires through athletics

"If I can't do great things, I want to do small things in a great way."

“If I can’t do great things, I want to do small things in a great way.”
That’s the motto which drives local athlete, Lindani Sangweni. The talented runner, who works at Dundee Hospital, was recently awarded at the Durban ICC for his achievements.

Lindani, who has represented the hospital during interdepartmental games, received a trophy and certificate from Department of Sports and Recreation MEC, Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi. Two days after being honoured for his achievements, Lindani was on the road again, competing in the Comrades Marathon.

He finished the ultra marathon in 8h36mins and received a Bill Rowan medal. “I just want to motivate and inspire others to stay away from drugs and alcohol and take up sport,” said Lindani.

Lindani thanked the hospital staff who donated towards his Comrades run and his coach, Leonard Benjamin, who continues to push him to be a better athlete. Expect to see Lindani on the road again soon as he begins his preparation for his ninth Comrades Marathon.
