Ladysmith karate-ka selected to represent NKZN at Provincials

Congratulations to all karate-ka and their Sensei on the high standard and proper etiquette shown at the NKZN trials

The Northern KwaZulu-Natal region held their JKA karate trials at the Farmers’ Hall in Newcastle on Saturday, February 4, in light of the Provincial Championships which were held this past weekend (February 17 and 18) at Hillcrest Primary School.

A team consisting of 75 karate-ka, with 10 students from the Ladysmith dojo, was selected to represent NKZN at the Provincials.

The Ladysmith students are: Alexander McCan, Spencer Kok, Caleb Vieweger, Fathima Zahra Kader, Lathan van Deventer, Jeandre Els, Rowan Yssel, Jaco van Dalen, Gerhardus Otto and Jeandre Minnaar.

We congratulate all karate-ka and their Sensei on the high standard and proper etiquette shown at the NKZN trials.

The top eight competitors in each division will be allowed to participate at the National Championships in May, which will also serve as the trials for the national team that will represent South Africa at the Gichin Funakoshi JKA World Championships in Ireland in August this year.
