Rugby news: ‘Kamp Staaldraad’ for Clover Leaf Bulldogs

Natalia’s Iron Ladies, as well as LHS's first team hockey girls, took part

On Saturday, February 11, the Clover Leaf Bulldogs held their annual ‘Kamp Staaldraad’ at Platrand.

The 9.3km course was set up and organised by Marnus and Natalia van der Merwe.

We, the Clover Leaf Bulldogs rugby team, are very privileged to have two such amazing people who go out of their way to help and give up so much of their free time to help us.

This is a great team-building event, not to mention the toughness of taking part, especially with the heat factor playing such a big role. 24 rugby players took part, some really pushing their bodies to the limit.

Duran Law was in a class of his own, proving that all the hard work in the gym and park running had paid off handsomely.

Natalia’s Iron Ladies, as well as the LHS first team hockey girls, took part. These girls did really well, in fact much better than expected.

The spirit and determination shown by everyone was amazing, so much so that it inspired me to go to the gym and have a 90-minute work-out.

We would like to thank Jabu Campher for letting us use Platrand again as the venue. A big thank you to Marnus and Natalia for everything they did – the two of you are an inspiration to us all.

Thank you to our sponsor, Gerald Boardman and family – you have most certainly helped to put us on the map.

Thank you to Linda Boshoff for all the hard work behind the scenes, making sure we have cold drinks, water, energy drinks, beers and a delicious plate of food at the end.

This coming weekend, the Clover Leaf Bulldogs play in a 7s tournament in Port Shepstone. We wish them all the best.
