It was a week of mixed results in the Umzinyathi Cricket Association Leagues as some teams fired in some games and collapsed in others. The bowlers were in fine form as a few players picked up 5 wicket hauls and others were extremely economical. There were also standout out performances with the bat despite some low bouncing wickets and challenging conditions.
Paki Lions vs Ace Eagles – T20
Ace Eagles batted first and made 121/7 thanks to 50 not out from Waheed and 22 from Labeeb. Farouk took 2/20 and Ashfaq took 2/25. In reply Paki Lions were bowled out for only 98. Adeel top scored with 31 and Sakib chipped in with 16. Ashraf took 3/13 and Ramil took 2/10 as Ace Eagles claimed victory.
Molls vs Tigers – T20
Tigers batted first and made 110/7. Ryan made 22 and Ashvir made 21. Stephen took 3/27 and Brandon took 2/12 for Molls. In reply they were bowled out for a measly 42. Brandon was their top scorer with 15 while Stephen made 7. Shaun was in brilliant form with the ball taking 5/7 and Logan took 3/16 as Tigers picked up the win.
Rebels vs Molls – T20
Molls batted first and could only manage 91/8 in their allotted overs, despite 52 from Brandon and 13 from Brett. Mfundo and Baluthando gave nothing away with the ball as they took 3/4 and 2/6 respectively. Rebels chased down the total with 6 overs to go and 6 wickets in hand. Mikiale top scored with 39 and Mzwandile made 25. Preston took 1/1 and Brandon took 1/23 but it was not enough to derail Rebels’ charge.
Farmers vs Ace Eagles – 30 Overs
Ace Eagles batted first and made a mammoth 225/8 thanks to a brilliant knock by Udien. Udien top scored with 113 while Ramil chipped in with 34. Cameron took 3/25 and Conrad took 3/26 for Farmers. In reply they were bowled out for 110. Henning top scored with 23 not out and Tinie scored 17. Ashraf ripped through the batting line up taking 5/28 and Imtiaz took 2/34 as Ace Eagles picked up another big win.
Paki Lions vs Tigers – 30 Overs
Paki Lions batted first, making 131/9. Farouk anchored the innings, top scoring with 72 not out as he led his team to post a defendable total. Kamran chipped in with 12. Shaun was in fine form with ball in hand, taking 5/26 while Vernen took 2/26. Tigers couldn’t get into gear during their chase and were bowled out for only 44. Logan was the top scorer with 14.
Sakib was the chief destroyer, taking 6/11 while Ashfaq took 2/4 as Paki Lions won the battle of the big cats.
