Phoenix soars high in weekend league

Phoenix booked its place in the final last week already, and awaits confirmation of which team it faces on January 14.

Despite this, Lennoxton still managed to book its place in the final of the Plate Division, with a comprehensive victory over Warriors.

Ritesh Singh took four wickets, while Ansar Siddique top scored with 25.

Lennoxton will now face the winner of the second semi-final, still to be played between Paradise and Drakensberg Old Boys.

In the Super Six stage, the only completed match was a thriller.

Underdogs needed three runs from the final deliver of its match against Highlands, and ran two to leave the game deadlocked.

The Super Six log is as follows, with two rounds to play:

Highlands leads proceedings with five points, ahead of Asians on four, and both FNB Phoenix and Underdogs on three.

AMSA (two) and Eagles (one) prop up the log standings.

In the Spur Super Saturday League, Old Boys claimed a famous win over Eagles, while Highlands retained its finals aspirations, outplaying Asians.

Paradise held onto second place with an eight wicket win over Lennoxton.

Phoenix is way in front on 14 points, ahead of Paradise on 10, Highlands on eight, Warriors on seven, Lennoxton and Eagles in five, Asians and Old Boys on four, and Underdogs on three.
