Mr X and Gladiators take T20 victories

Bhekuzulu's batsmen were able to hold out the Mr X bowling attack for the entire 20 overs, but did not manage to reach the target.

TWO T20 matches were played last weekend at Cecil Emmett.

On Saturday, Mr X batted first against Bhekuzulu and scored 129/5 in their allotted overs. Jean Botha (53) and Kyle Taylor (16) top scored for them.

Bhekuzulu’s best bowlers were Mxolisi Ntshangase (4-1-20-2) and Sphamandla Mkhonza (4-0-27-2). Bhekuzulu’s batsmen were able to hold out the Mr X bowling attack for the entire 20 overs, but did not manage to reach the target, scoring 92/9 with Nkosinathi Zwane (18) and Sphamandla Mkhonza (15) top scoring. Best bowlers for Mr X were Brandon Bender (3-0-8-4) and Kyle Taylor (2-0-9-2). Mr X won by 38 runs.

The Sunday game was contested between the Gladiators and eMondlo. Gladiators batted first and scored a good 225/2 mainly through good batting from openers Andrew Vorster (94 not out) and Adriaan Kruger (49).

The only successful bowlers for eMondlo were Mandla Khanyile (4-0-39-1) and Rasta Nyoka (4-0-40-1). In batting, the eMondlo batsmen were demolished by the Gladiators bowlers and only managed to score 51 runs with Mandla Khanyile (18) and Msize Khumalo (11 not out) top scoring. The best Gladiators bowlers were Charles Janse van Vuuren (3-1-3-3) and Jackie Delport (3-0-12-2). The Gladiators won the match by 175 runs.
