For Pavilion Tennis Club chairman, Peter Cochran, it was the mark of a new era.

“A woman we know asked us to raise funds for Morester, but the courts were closed until recently. We planned this competition as an opener for the courts, and as a fund-raiser for Morester.”

Despite only 10 entries, the tournament boasted some scintillating action, with the team of Johnny Msimanga and Nhlakanipho Ngema jubilant in their victory.

Coetzee Hamann and Rina Chisholm finished in second place.

Organisers of the competition thanked its sponsors, who assisted with tennis balls, winners’ prizes and a lucky draw prize, also won by Mr Ngema.
