Golfers challenged by strong winds

The forty-four golfers who participated in Saturday’s club competition at Dundee Country Club were challenged by a stiff breeze which blew all afternoon making playing conditions tricky for most of the players.

The forty-four golfers who participated in Saturday’s club competition at Dundee Country Club were challenged by a stiff breeze which blew all afternoon making playing conditions tricky for most of the players. Winning the 4 BBBS format was the pairing of Rob Streak and Debbie Catlett on 44 points.
The mother and daughter pairing of Loraine and Vlooi managed to count out Walter Du Plessis and his partner Dolly Bradbury, to finish in second place, ahead of the later pairing on 43 points. There were only four players who were able to record a 2 club on the short holes with M Sithole achieving his on the 4th hole and both S Kunene and C Munro on hole no.12, with C Maphanga making his 2 club on hole no.16.
This Wednesday, the public holiday, sees the Dundee Round Table hosting their charity golf day, the format is 4 BBBS and the entry fee is only R120 per player, so all local golfers are urged to come out and support this worthy cause. There will also be a 9 hole fun competition for non-recognized golfers starting at 1.30 pm.
April 30 will see the first round of matches being played for the Club Matchplay Champions and those players who qualified for this event are to confirm their availability by no later than April 28. The popular Flo-Tek Golf Day will take place the following Saturday, May 7, which promises to be a great day with lots of prizes up for grabs and is sure to attract a large number of golfers.

On the social scene, there is a “Beer Pong” fun evening lined up for May 6 starting at 6 pm and the entry fee is R120 per team of two players.
