TWO 20/Twenty league matches were played last weekend. On Saturday, Wicket Wasps traveled to Dumbe. Wicket Wasps batted first and in their allotted overs ended on 187/6 mainly thanks to Triztian Nel who carried his bat and scored a superb 101 not out.
Also contributing to the score were Connor High and Andrew Brooks who both scored 17. Riaan Nigrini (3-0-28-3) and Jacques Pienaar (4-0-29-2) were the top wicket takers for Dumbe.
In chasing, Dumbe could only manage to score 130/6 in their 20 overs with Jacques Pienaar (36) and Anton Beneke (27) top scoring for them.
Zane van Rooyen (3-0-26-2) and Mark Dedekind (2-0-19-2) were Wicket Wasps top wicket takers. Wicket Wasps won by 57 runs.
On Sunday, Gladiators faced Mr X in a very one sided match at Cecil Emmett Park.
Batting first, Mr X piled on 184 runs in their 20 overs. Miguel Machado (68) and Jaco Grobbelaar (32) top scored for their team. Best bowling for Gladiators came from Joshua Stride (3-0-23-1) and Zia Zahman (4-0-23-1).
Gladiators in batting, couldn’t get any partnerships going and were bowled out for 58 in the eighteenth over. Kamran (16) and Josua van Niekerk (10) were the only Gladiator batsmen able to get into double figures.
Top wicket takers for Mr X were birthday boy David Sandalls (2-0-2-2) and Jaco Grobbelaar (3-1-6-2).
Mr X won by 130 runs.
